A transit tour or stay airside
- If you can enter Korea: a short transit tour from the desk.
- Otherwise: the free culture centre, showers and a nap airside.
Incheon is efficient and has its own transit tours, but it's an hour from central Seoul. Until the end of 2026, travellers from 22 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and the larger EU states, don't need a K-ETA. Indian travellers with a US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand or European visa can enter for up to 30 days in transit; Nepali travellers need a Korean visa.

Incheon runs short guided tours for transit passengers, from temples and markets near the airport to trips into Seoul. Register at the Transit Tour desk on the 1st floor of Terminal 1 (near gates 1 and 2) or Terminal 2, at least 30 minutes before the tour. Seats are first come, first served, and you must be able to enter Korea.
International connections at Incheon stay airside with no Korean visa needed for any passport.
If your flights use different terminals, an airside shuttle train runs from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 for transfer passengers with an onward boarding pass. The shuttle bus, AREX train and taxis are landside and mean entering Korea.
Domestic flights mostly leave from Gimpo, a different airport, so connecting to them means entering Korea: a visa for Nepali passports, and the 30-day transit entry or a visa for Indian passports.
On separate tickets you usually need to collect your bags and check in again, which means entering Korea.
Allow at least 60 minutes in the same terminal, more between terminals.
None of the 16 passports we cover needs a visa to change planes airside at ICN, on one booking with your bags checked through. Entering the country, for a terminal change through immigration, a domestic flight or separate tickets, follows the rules in the table above.

With an hour each way, you need about 8 hours for a worthwhile trip into Seoul. On shorter layovers, a transit tour near the airport works better.
| Option | Time | Cost | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| AREX Express train to Seoul Station | About 45–50 min | Around KRW 11,000 | Non-stop, about every 30–40 min, roughly 5 am to 11 pm. |
| AREX all-stop train | About 60 min to Seoul Station | Around KRW 4,500 | Every 10 min. Change for Hongdae or the subway network. |
| Airport limousine bus | 60–90 min | Around KRW 17,000 | Goes to Myeongdong, Gangnam and many hotels. |
Times assume you can leave the airport with your passport. Pick the plan that fits your layover, not your hopes.
